Whiskey BBQ Sliders
Jacob and I are the proud owners of a mini burger press. And, we're the proud owners of Ree Drummond's new book: The Pioneer Woman Cooks: A Year of Holidays. Seriously, you need to buy this cookbook. It's over 375 pages of recipes, step-by-step pictures, and other amazing photography.
Naturally the Whiskey Barbecue Sliders were the first recipe I made and they were delicious! Super easy, one pot meal and tons of flavor. The recipe did call for jalapeno slices but I left them out and instead served on a slider bun with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and an onion ring. So good.
With so many recipes, you know I'll be testing and sharing more of The Pioneer Woman's recipes.
Whiskey BBQ Sliders
1 pound beef
salt and pepper to taste
3 or 4 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
4 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup whiskey
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup drained jarred jalapeno slices (optional, use if you want to make burgers spicy)
6-8 slider buns or dinner rolls, split
Serve with sliced cheddar cheese, lettuce, and cooked onion ring.
Place ground beef in a bowl and add in salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Use your hands to mix and form into small patties.
Heat butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook on both sides until almost done in the middle, about 3 or so minutes each side. Remove patties from the pan and set on a plate.
Add chopped onions to the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes. Slowly pour in the whiskey. (If using an open flame, turn off burner to prevent flare up while pouring and then turn back on.) Stir whiskey and onion to combine and allow mixture to cook and reduce by half, 1-2 minutes.
Reduce heat to low and add in the barbecue sauce. If using jalapenos, add them in now. Add back in the burger patties and spoon sauce to coat each patty. Let the burgers simmer on low for 5 minutes or until burgers are fully cooked.
Serve on a slider bun with a slice of cheddar cheese, lettuce, and cooked onion ring.
