Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza with Special Sauce
Ginny and I are taking on New Year's Eve this week. Jake and I are not the party hardy go out on the town kind of people, especially on New Year's Eve. Instead, we usually make a nice meal, have a couple drinks, and hope to stay awake until midnight.
Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza would be the perfect way to bring in the new year! Our local pizza place, Minsky's, makes the BEST Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza it was just a matter of time before I tried to recreate it. What makes this pizza unique? The sauce is made up of ketchup and mustard and there are PICKLES on the pizza! Now, before you throw up in your mouth, trust me, it's delicious. Even our Minskey's waitress told us the first bite might be weird, but by the second it all makes sense. And, it's topped with bacon so there's that.
You have got to try this at least once. It's crazy how much it tastes like a hamburger!
Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza
1/2 pound cooked and drained hamburger
Lowery's seasoning salt
Ground pepper
1 small onion, chopped
1 prepared pizza crust (we like Mama Mary's Thin and Crispy)
extra virgin olive oil
3/4 cup ketchup
1 1/2 tablespoon thousand island salad dressing
1/4 cup yellow mustard
10-15 hamburger pickles
1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
8-10 pieces cooked bacon
Brown hamburger and season with Lowery's and ground pepper. Add onion when burger is almost done cooking. Drain grease and set aside.
Preheat oven according to pizza crust instructions. Brush crust with olive oil. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup and thousand island dressing. Pour sauce onto crust and use a spoon or spatula to cover crust evenly.
Squirt mustard all over the crust (I don't measure; just drizzle to your liking). Next, top ketchup and mustard with the hamburger pickles, then prepared hamburger meat, and end with cheddar cheese.
Bake pizza according to crust directions and cheese is melted. Top with cooked bacon and serve!
